After last week’s swinging set, bassist Phil Sparks returns to the Salon with a brand-new trio and a different vibe. This time, he’s joined by guitarist Leif Totusek and drummer Jamael Nance to present an evening of funk and world beat grooves. Leif Totusek is a Seattle guitarist known for his fluid style that draws on African, Latin, and jazz traditions. Jamael Nance, a New Orleans percussionist and educator, brings deep rhythm and infectious energy to the ensemble. Together, the trio creates music that’s both grounded and adventurous—perfect for an intimate night of live performance in the galleries.
