About Us
In December 2025, Frederick Holmes & Company—one of the Pacific Northwest's most respected fine art galleries—closed its doors after 12 remarkable years in Seattle's Pioneer Square. Founded in 2013, the gallery had become widely considered one of the finest in the Northwest, showcasing an exceptional collection of modern and contemporary art.
The Conru Art Foundation, recognizing the importance of preserving this cultural institution, has taken stewardship of the gallery space and collection. Occidental Gallery represents a new chapter—one that honors the legacy of Frederick Holmes while bringing fresh perspectives and expanded programming to Seattle's art community.
Occidental Gallery is dedicated to making exceptional art accessible to all. We believe in the transformative power of art to inspire, challenge, and connect communities. Our gallery showcases a carefully curated selection of works spanning from 19th-century masterpieces to contemporary pieces by emerging Pacific Northwest artists.
As part of the Conru Art Foundation's network—which includes ArtLove Salon and PublicDisplay.Art—we are committed to supporting artists and fostering a vibrant arts ecosystem in Seattle and beyond.
Our collection represents the full spectrum of modern and contemporary art, with particular strengths in American Expressionism, Abstract painting, and works on paper. We proudly represent the Art-Historic Estate of American Expressionist Oscar Van Young (1906-1991), along with works by notable artists including Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Roberto Matta, and many others.
Occidental Gallery is a project of the Conru Art Foundation, connecting Seattle's art community through multiple initiatives.
